A perfect wedding is
incomplete without a beautiful cake to cut during the reception.
However, rather than stressing about the details of your wedding
cake, such as what flavor to order or what design to choose, take a
breather and enjoy the following wedding cake trivia.
Trivia
#1: Throw it to the bride!
Want
a medieval-themed wedding? To make it as authentic as possible,
you’ll have to settle for a loaf of bread made with wheat and
barley as a wedding cake. Moreover, be prepared to go through an odd
tradition, because the loaf will be thrown at you, the bride, as a
symbol of fertility.
Trivia
#2: First, there was “pie”.
Back
in the 17th century until the early 19th
century, couples preferred a satisfying pie over an icing-covered
cake. Inside this so-called “bride pie” is a glass ring that
works in a similar way to the bride’s bouquet wherein whoever finds
the ring first would be the next bride.
Trivia
#3: Love for the bridesmaids.
Did
you know that the bouquet isn’t the only way to foretell the future
of your bridesmaids? In some parts of the U.S., it was tradition for
single women to pull out ribbons from the bottom layer of the wedding
cake. Whoever grabs the ribbon with a charm at the end should get
ready for wedding bells. Another tradition involved bridesmaids
placing a piece of wedding cake under their pillows so as to dream of
their future husband.
